Reader Application

From time to time, I may have copies of my books available to distribute to readers and reviewers at no cost. Free books will be awarded based on need, merit, and your ability to spread the word about my books. Interested readers can compose an essay based on the questions below and submit their application via the contact form on my website. Use the subject line "APPLYING FOR FREE BOOKS" in all capital letters at the top of your message. You may need to send your application in several messages, depending on the character count.

Submission of the application form is not a guarantee that books will be awarded. Submissions will be considered on a rolling basis. Successful applicants will be notified within one month of submission. Due to the volume of requests for books, we are not able to notify unsuccessful applicants at this time. If you do not receive a message within thirty (30) days, unfortunately your application was not successful. Please submit only one (1) application for each title. Submission of more than one (1) application per title will result in disqualification from further applications. Books will be shipped by regular ground, which may take up to six weeks - if you require faster shipping, you may choose this option at your own expense.

Application Essay

Please submit an essay of no more than 500 words covering the following topics. Essays longer than 500 words will not be considered.

1. Which title are you requesting?

2. Describe yourself and/or your book club. What do you love about romance? What do you do with donated books once you've read them (e.g. give them to friends, donate them to libraries, etc)?

3. How have you supported my work so far? Attach any relevant documentation, such as screenshots of requests for your local libraries to stock my titles, links to posts on social media, or purchase receipts (with identifying information removed, if you prefer). NB: Supporting documents will not count toward the word limit.

4. Describe what drew you to my books in particular. How will my books fulfil your/your group's reading goals? Do you have a different reading mindset when you pick up books by marginalized authors, compared to books whose authors are not marginalized?

5. It is not necessary for applicants to have a large social media following or provide their social media handles, but if you wish, you may include your handles and follower counts, as well as links to ONE sample bookish post (text or still photos only) and ONE sample TikTok/reel. If any of your posts are about my books, I'd love to see them! If any of your book-related posts have received greater than 50k views, you may include additional links to the top THREE posts (either text/photos or video).

Thanks for applying! Best of luck,
